Carey is passionate about advocating and caring for women of all ages. After completing all of her graduate studies in Colorado, she moved to Arizona so that she could be closer to her family who had recently relocated from the Mid-West. Carey joined the medical staff at Gila River Health Care in 2005 where she spent 10 years as clinical director and sole Nurse Practitioner for the Family Planning Program providing reproductive health care via a Mobile Medical Unit. In 2016, Carey was hired as Director of Women’s Health and Family Planning for GRHC and continues to serve in that role today. She has worked in a variety of healthcare settings including private OB/GYN clinics, large metropolitan public health departments, non-for-profit organization consultation, and as faculty associate for Arizona State University. Her interests include hiking, traveling, and exploring new cuisines, but her #1 role is “mom” to her dearest daughter, Zoe.
