"I'll Be Fine" Isn't Always the Answer

Published June 2026

Strong Men Take Care of Their Health Too. With Father's Day just around the corner, it's a great time to recognize the men in our lives-fathers, grandfathers, brothers, sons, cousins, and uncles who contribute so much to their families and communities.

Many stay focused on work, family, and responsibilities while putting their own health last. So it's common to hear phrases like, "I'll be okay", "I'm fine," or "It's probably nothing." More often than not, men dismiss symptoms such as fatigue, headaches, changes in sleep, shortness of breath, aches, or ongoing discomfort,  believing the issue will eventually go away. Unfortunately, some serious health conditions can develop gradually and without obvious warning signs.

The reality is that some health conditions develop quietly, without obvious symptoms at first. Scheduling an annual wellness exam, keeping up with recommended screenings, taking a daily walk, getting enough sleep, eating balanced meals, and managing stress are all important ways to support long-term health.

Another helpful reminder is to think about who depends on you. Staying healthy means having more opportunities to attend family gatherings, support loved ones, share knowledge with younger generations, and enjoy the activities that bring you purpose and joy.

This month, encourage the men in your life to make their health a priority. A simple appointment today could prevent bigger health concerns tomorrow. Taking care of your health is not a sign of weakness-it is a commitment to your future, your family, and your community.

Your health matters. Make yourself a priority today so you can continue being there for the people who matter most.
