Health and Safety Tips

Important Teen Health Information!

Young people (ages 15-24) account for half of all new cases of sexually-transmitted diseases (STDs), although tKnow the Facts First 2hey represent just 25 percent of the sexually experienced population.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that about one in four teens in the U.S. has an STD. The data shows that teens need to know about STDs and their health consequences and how to prevent them.

That’s why the Office on Women’s Health (OWH), in collaboration with the National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors and National Coalition of STD Directors, has launched Know The Facts First (KTFF).  KTFF is a public health awareness campaign that provides teen girls, ages 13-19, with accurate information about STDs and STD prevention so that they can make informed decisions about sexual activity.
